Anorexia Composition

This is my contribute to anorexia. I edited these pictures SLIGHTLY in photoshop. Nothing drastic. When some one is anorexic their hands turn blue due to poor circulation. The blood vessels in their eyes often rupture due to the high blood pressure and irregular heart beat. I've never suffered from anorexia myself, but I know people who have. Its such a horrible thing, but people choose to ignore it. Theres no way to nicely put this, so yes, the pictures are disgusting and disturbing. Thats how anorexia is though. We shouldn't pretend its okay.

I truly believe anorexia is in no way a mental illness caused by unbalanced chemicals or anything. Its so much deeper than that. Its caused by the influences and peer pressure around a person. So many people suffer from eating disorders trying to fit into societies definition of "ideal beauty". A person doesn't have to be skin and bones to be beautiful. Media needs to stop emphasizing outer appearance and focus more on what makes a good person. Maybe then more people wouldn't have such self esteem issues. "Conventional beauty" is in no way beautiful. Each individual person is beautiful in a unique way. Trying to change to please others and fit their definition of beauty is one of the highest forms of self mutilation, weather through anorexia or anything else. Not just changing your body, but changing your personality, the core of who you are.

Its easy to say you wont change for others, but its not easy to do I know. People are jerks, bullies, and pathetic. We just have to remember they dont matter. No ones opinion of you will destroy your life or kill you. Allowing their opinion to mold you minus will kill you. You allow them to kill who you are and replace it with something fake. Thats by far worse than any judgments they may throw your way. Anyone who wont accept you for who you are isnt worth a second of your time. They are the ones who need to change. Just remember that next time some one doesnt agree with you being different. Or remember that before you voice your opinion of some one whos different than you.
